Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary to me,  happy anniversary to me,  happy anniversary to me and Pacific Arts Market in Vancouver.

Today marks one year since I started selling my refinished furniture and artwork at Pacific Arts Market at 1448 W. Broadway in Vancouver, BC.

When I first started this business, I worked solely from home. Then my house got so crowded that I moved my work into a storage unit in Abbotsford. At one point, I even had two storage units: one for unfinished furniture, and one that I set up with the finished pieces like a pretty little shop.

Last January, Crystal from Pacific Arts Market contacted me. She had seen my pieces on Instagram, and wanted to know if I would put a few pieces of my furniture on display in her store. I said, of course! This arrangement worked well, and eventually I was able to downsize to one storage unit in Abbotsford. I was also able to promote my pieces in Vancouver.

My vanities are always on display in the front window where passersby can see them. My first sale at Pacific Arts Market was from a drive-by. A lady glanced up and saw a bright pink vanity, and had to stop to check it out.  She bought the vanity and two nightstands. In my first month at Pacific Arts Market I sold three vanities from the window, boom, boom, boom.

And then Covid came…

Through the lockdown, Crystal was an amazing support to all the artists. She offered discounted rents, and ran a GoFundMe to support the artists. She also started an online shop where artists could showcase their work. Crystal is amazing at promoting artists. She works hard to have everyone’s works seen on every social media platform.

Whether you’re shopping for souvenirs, treats for yourself, or gifts for your loved ones, Pacific Arts Market showcases a huge variety of work by local artists. It has everything you could want, from original paintings and prints in all shapes and sizes to an impressive variety of candles, pottery, ceramics, woodwork, leather goods, photography, teas and jams, jewelry, bath and body products, macramé.

And now it has paint 😊

I have recently expanded my business, and am now a retailer for my favourite furniture refinishing and art products. At Pacific Arts Market, alongside my furniture pieces, I will be selling DIY Paint Co. paints, Paint Pixie paint brushes, and Redesign with Prima transfers.

Pacific Arts Market is so much more than a store. It’s rated as one of Vancouver‘s best art spaces and is one of Lonely Planet’s top choices. There is plenty of room to browse without feeling crowded, and often you can watch artists at work. The best part is that it changes every week. There’s something wonderful and new every time you walk in.

Pacific Arts Market also hosts some purely “for fun” events and informative monthly events, although right now most are online. Before Covid, it had live music with artist meet-and-greets, and all kinds of workshops.  It is an ideal way to connect with the local art scene.

I highly suggest visiting Pacific Arts Market the next time you’re in Vancouver. And when you’ve finished browsing, purchase some paint 😀 Seriously, it’s delicious and amazing, and you won’t regret it!

Happy Anniversary!

Cheers!

Enjoyable to see your enthusiasm, Charmaine! And a logical progression — you like how the paints perform for you, so it makes sense to encourage others to try them out. Best wishes.
